Perfect Pitch

Political Campaign

A group of first-time state legislature candidates is holding a rally to “take back Harrisburg” or Helena or Hartford or what-have-you, and they want you to provide the goods.

First, remind them that it’s their message that matters, not the medium; then introduce these fresh-faced, forward-looking alternatives by sending out a few thousand seeded mailers; then follow up with hangers to leave behind when soliciting support door-to-door. Round up some campaign signs and plant them in supporters’ yards and along heavily trafficked routes – just remember to take them down after the election, thanks. And with plenty of people filing into the county library to pick up tax forms this season, leave a few stacks of bookmarks with reminders of why their vote is needed.

At the rally, play off the cliché of the baby-kissing pol by giving out 100 cotton bibs embroidered with a pithy slogan, something about the future consequences of decisions being made (or avoided) now. Then have fun with a few hundred American-made thermometers to promote your dedication or opposition to science and its uncomfortable predictions. And of course, buttons with your clients’ beaming smiles should be ubiquitous, too.

Help convince unregistered voters by providing quality incentives like mouse pads with combined calendar and notepad functions so folks can keep track of when they last e-mailed their congressman. A canvas tote with colored handles shows off your clients’ imprint well and is durable enough to last until the next election. Make sure you provide about 500 good pens, too, for all that late registering that will be going on.

Coming through for your political clients during this campaign season enhances your chances of getting their votes next time around, too.
